Workshop 26-2 Child Support Accountability Court: Overcoming Obstacles
Room: Salon A & B
Presenter: Tyler Wilke, Judge Smith and Judge Schuette
Overview: Problem-Solving Courts have been evolving and gaining momentum across the US justice system. Madison County, part of the Metro-East region of St. Louis, Missouri, has created the state’s first Child Support Accountability Court designed to help parents who, due to education or employability barriers, are unable to pay their child support obligation. The court has partnered with local community organizations to assist individuals in overcoming those barriers. We will talk about the obstacles encountered in creating this court along with providing a framework to create a similar court in your own jurisdiction.
